Is it better to wear a bra at night or not?

The debate over wearing a bra at night has long been a topic of discussion among health experts and people around the world. Here are some points to consider:

Arguments in favor of wearing a bra at night:

  1. Additional Support: For women with larger breasts, wearing a bra at night may provide additional support that reduces the sway and movement of the breasts during sleep. This may help prevent irritation and discomfort, especially for those with sensitive skin or breast sensitivity issues.

  2. Prevention of Sagging: Some experts suggest that wearing a bra at night could help prevent ptosis (sagging) of the breasts over time. The support provided by the bra could help maintain the shape and elasticity of the breasts, especially for women with larger breasts.

Arguments Against Wearing Your Bra At Night:

  1. Improve Circulation: Sleeping without a bra could allow better blood circulation in the breasts, reducing the risk of blocked blood vessels and the potential development of problems such as breast cysts.

  2. Greater Comfort: For many women, not wearing a bra while sleeping offers greater comfort and freedom of movement. Sleeping without a bra could allow your body to fully relax and promote deeper, more restful sleep.

  3. Prevention of Skin Irritation: The fabric of the bra may irritate your skin while you sleep, especially if you are sensitive to materials or stitching. Sleeping without a bra could reduce the risk of skin irritation and improve comfort during the night.

In conclusion, there is no precise answer: the decision to wear a bra at night or not depends on personal preferences, breast size and individual needs. While some women find benefit in wearing a bra at night for added support, others prefer to sleep without it for comfort and freedom of movement. It is important to listen to your body and choose the option that offers the greatest well-being and comfort during sleep. Personally, however, I advise my clients against models with underwire or that are too restrictive in favor of better circulation and comfort. If you don't feel comfortable sleeping without a bra you can consider a softer or non-wired model to use only for the night.
